She-Blogs.com Interview

She-blogs: What is your definition of style?

Eric: Style is one’s own individual uniqueness that shows through their personality and most importantly their fashion sense.

She-blogs: When did you first realize that you wanted to be a stylist and what do you feel inspired it?

Eric: My inspiration came from my fabulous mother who has great style. I first realized that I wanted to be a stylist at a very young age. Together, my mother and I would go shopping and she would allow me to chose my own clothing and put my ensembles together for school. It was at school that I received the most compliments and right there, I knew I must have been doing something right.

She-blogs: How did you first break into the industry and what tips do you have for aspiring entertainment stylists?

Eric: Breaking into any industry, one must start from the bottom and rise to the top. I started my career as an intern for a motion picture, which is really unusual in this industry. I had to learn very quickly because every project was very demanding.

My tips for a new stylist would be to stay true to themselves and always have a great attitude. You never know who’s watching.

She-blogs: You have worked with so many celebs…Can you name a few?

Eric: I’ve worked with so many phenomenal, talented people. From Carmen Electra, Joan Jett, Rocsi of the BET Network, Angela Simmons, Adrienne Bailon, ACDC, Chingy, Joe, Neyo and even reggae artist Burning Spears who won a Grammy for Reggae Album of the year and yes I just so happened to style the cover of that album in Jamaica.

She-blogs: After a client tells you what they are looking for, what is your creative process to come up with a look?

Eric: I usually pull different styles and looks from magazines and the web and create a storyboard so that together with the client, we know exactly what the vision is. The storyboard allows me to visually create and pull pieces that can work for the project.

She-blogs: What are some spring 2010 must have styles and colors?

Eric: Some Spring 2010 must haves should include suspenseful jewels, bondage belts, and exotic bags. Tribal prints are in. Colors such as green, pink, orange, cream. You also can’t go wrong with Black and White.

She-blogs: What projects are you currently working on now?

Eric: Several photo editorials, videos and TV appearances.

She-blogs: Where can people see more of your work?
